i think this is a pretty complex surreal drawing, giving the fact that it's not the main thing you create. i know you're good with graphite and shading, but in the drawing it's especially good. the best parts are the horns. that really makes one wonder...what is this? is it alive? the eyes are very well done. the lids and little details like the eyelashes make it look nicely finished.
i wonder a bit about the sharp "legs" of the creature. first of all they have a cool trippy, optical illusion thing going on there, the legs seem to intertwine or fold or i'm sure what. these legs are solid black as are the second pair of horns. i think they don't fit in with the rest of it. i would guess you did that for contrast. i think they are so much more simple than the rest of the creature. i can see that you need the contrast you're looking for, but maybe you could find a way to make contrast that wouldn't clash with the rest of the drawing. you could do something like, save the the shapes but fill them with cross hatching or, since it's pencil, shading would be the best and fit in the best.
i like the composition. i like that you had the confidence to leave so much white. i think to a lot of people it is too hard to parse. i like it. i do it too. in a way this is minimalist. i like that you sketch the mountains well enough to be seen fairly detailed at the top. the hug open space in the foreground just makes the drawing! you get good perspective with the creature, it comes at you in kind of a weird angle that makes one wonder what's going on and that's a great thing.
i think the empty page around the bizarre creature makes it extremely likely to stare at and forces people to focus on it. the face looks worried, frustrated, tense, tired. i wonder why you chose to put the horns on it. and why more than one set of horns. it's a good thing, makes you try to figure it out.
the face is the most expressive part of the drawing. the emotions are powerful. the rest of the creature is kind of too hard to figure out. it leads to interested questions
i think this is a expressive drawing that is well done. i feel like it must be very good if i spent the time to critique it!
